American Airlines to start JFK-Delhi nonstop from 31 October
American Airlines start a nonstop on New York (JFK)-Delhi route from 31st October . The airline had earlier announced Bengaluru-Seattle which was to be launched last winter and had to be deferred due to the pandemic by a year. In an statement the airline said “Beginning October 31, American will launch nonstop service from New York (JFK) to New Delhi on a Boeing 777-200 to meet the strong local demand. With its Qatar Airways partnership and previously announced Seattle to Bengaluru, American will offer customers more ways to fly between the US and India… Flights to Delhi will connect customers to India’s capital three times per week, and then daily during the holiday peak from 17TH November 17 2021 to 3rd January 2022”.
GECAS Arranges Purchase Leaseback Agreements with IndiGo for 14 Airbus Neos
GE Capital Aviation Services (GECAS) along with the ventures it services have agreed a Purchase/Leaseback (PLB) arrangement for 14 LEAP-powered Airbus neo aircraft with IndiGo. The seven A320neo and seven A321neo are scheduled to deliver between the fourth quarter of 2021 and the middle of 2022. GECAS has supported the fleet needs of IndiGo since it commenced operations in 2006. SVP and Asia-Pacific Regional Manager of GECAS Aashish Sonawala stated “GECAS remains proud to support IndiGo’s exciting growth over the past 15 years, and adding these 14 neos is a true honor.”
GMR Aero Technic to expand footprint
GMR Aero Technic (GAT), a 100 per cent wholly owned subsidiary of GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (GHIAL), is developing wide-body aircraft capability for maintenance and painting, capability enhancement to add nacelle and certain critical components. Hyderabad is just two hours of flying time away from all major cities in India.
IndiGo signs LOI to bring Freighters on board
IndiGohas initiated a freighter programme and is in the process of sourcing 4 A321ceo aircraft each of which will be converted from passenger jets to a full freighter configuration. A Letter of Intent has been signed with a lessor for two aircraft already, and IndiGo expects to reach agreement for the next two shortly. The initiative will make best use of the natural synergies that IndiGo offers, using the same pool of pilots and engineers that fly and service its current fleet. The airline is expected to take the delivery of its first freighter in the first half of 2022, which will be used for both domestic and regional missions. The remaining three aircraft in the initial commitment are expected to arrive within a year or so from arrival of our first freighter, and further aircraft may be sourced depending on market development.
Safran plans to open expanded facility in Hyderabad this year
Safran plans to inaugurate its expanded aircraft engines facility in Hyderabad in the third quarter of 2021. The plant, spread over 13,000 square metres, will be located in the special economic zone (SEZ) of GMR near the Hyderabad Airport.
