Atlas Air Worldwide Announces 747-8F ACMI Service For Qantas Freight Atlas Air announced 4 April Qantas Freight have enhanced their long- standing ACMI (aircraft, crew, maintenance and insurance) relationship. Under the terms of the agreement, Atlas Air will operate two Boeing 747-8 Freighters in ACMI service for Qantas on transpacific routes linking Australia and Asia with the United States beginning in late July 2019. The aircraft will replace two Boeing 747-400 Freighters currently in service for Qantas. ATI Extends Long-Term Purchase Agreement With Rolls-Royce Allegheny Technologies Incorporated announced 4 April that it has extended its Long-Term Purchase Agreement (LTPA) with Rolls-Royce to supply rotating disc quality specialty materials for their Trent engine family. The LTPA extends Rolls-Royce and ATI’s agreement through 2029. Delta, Virgin Atlantic to serve London-Gatwick from Boston and New York-JFK in 2020 Delta is building on its position in Boston and New York with the launch of two new international routes from Boston's Logan International Airport and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport to London's Gatwick Airport will begin next summer in partnership with Virgin Atlantic. GA Telesis Appoints Kevin Geissler, Vice President of Aviation Lease Solutions GA Telesis announced 7 April the appointment of Kevin Geissler as Vice President Aviation Lease Solutions. Kevin will be responsible for oversight and development of the Company’s inventory leasing business as well as its thriving APU and Landing Gear leasing business. The Company currently has a significant inventory lease portfolio consisting of Boeing 737, 747, 767, 777, 787 as well as Airbus A320, A330 and A350 rotable components. Jetlines Announces Anticipated Launch Timing Canada Jetlines announced 4 April an update on recent corporate developments related to its planned launch of airline operations in 2019. Jetlines has made significant progress with respect to the airport agreements, commercial agreements and personnel additions required to launch operations. It has also announced financing transactions with SmartLynx Airlines SIA for up to $15 million and a Korean special purpose fund led and established by InHarv Partners Ltd. for up to $14 million. Jetlines has set a launch of commercial service targeted for December 17, 2019 using Vancouver (YVR) as Jetlines’ home airport. Lufthansa Technik is expanding in Montréal Lufthansa Technik AG announced 3 April its expanding its Montréal site for maintenance and repair of state-of-the-art aircraft engines. Aiming to triple the local capacity for its innovative Mobile Engine Services offerings, the company plans to create 50 new jobs in Montréal-Dorval by the end of 2021. Spirit Announced It Will Maintain 737 Deliveries at 52 Per Month Spirit AeroSystems announced 5 April the company will maintain its 737 deliveries to Boeing at the current rate of 52 shipsets per month. This follows the recent announcement by Boeing that it will temporarily adjust its 737 production from 52 to 42 airplanes per month starting in mid-April. The Carlyle Group Completes Purchase of StandardAero The Carlyle Group announced 5 April that it has closed its purchase of StandardAero from Veritas Capital. StandardAero is a global provider of repair and maintenance services to the aviation industry. “StandardAero has established itself as one of the true leaders in the MRO industry,” said Adam J. Palmer, Managing Director and Global Head of Aerospace, Defense and Government Services for The Carlyle Group. “We are excited to partner with the StandardAero team to continue supporting the Company’s growth and industry leadership.” United Airlines Names Michael Leskinen Vice President of Corporate Development and Investor Relations United Airlines announced 5 April Michael Leskinen has been named to vice president of Corporate Development and Investor Relations. Leskinen currently serves as managing director of Investor Relations. In his expanded role Leskinen will also lead United's strategic investment activities including United's investment activity in partner airlines. WestJet reaches tentative agreement with WestJet Encore pilots WestJet announced 5 April that it tentatively reached an agreement with the Airline Pilots Association (ALPA) representing its 510 WestJet Encore pilots. The tentative agreement will be presented to the ALPA membership group for ratification. Widerøe Signs Up Another Four Dash 8-100 Aircraft for Bombardier’s Extended Service Program Bombardier Commercial Aircraft announced 5 April that Widerøe’s Flyveselskap AS of Norway has signed an agreement to apply the Extended Service Program (ESP) to another four Dash 8-100 aircraft operated by the Norwegian airline. The ESP is the result of several structural and engineering analyses that utilized fatigue and test data accumulated on Dash 8-100 aircraft. The ESP is initiated through a Service Bulletin that makes reference to a new Maintenance Program Supplement. Widerøe will incorporate the Service Bulletin and Maintenance Program Supplement and arrange for the replacement of some structural and systems components as identified by the Service Bulletin.
