China Eastern Airlines selects Amadeus for International NDC expansion

China Eastern Airlines announced it has signed an agreement with Amadeus for international NDC distribution. China Eastern Airlines Vice President, Commercial Development, Fu Jian said “We want to provide our customers around the world with more choice and personalisation when booking travel with us and NDC is one of the key enablers to do this. It is also an important initiative for China Eastern Airlines to accelerate the recovery of international traffic and enhance the expansion of its overseas sales channels. As an innovative leader in the travel technology space, Amadeus is a significant partner for China Eastern Airlines. We look forward to working with Amadeus to expand our reach around the world.”

 

China Southern Airlines launches new Guangzhou to Doha route

China Southern Airlines launched a new route between Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) to Hamad International Airport (Doha) effective from 22 April operating four times weekly using two class Boeing 787-8 aircraft. Hamad International Airport Senior Vice President of Finance and Procurement Sujata Suri, said “China is one of our strategic markets and plays a crucial role in the aviation and tourism industry. The commencement of China Southern Airlines’ flights to Hamad International Airport will bolster tradelines between both countries, cater to the anticipated growth in traffic movement and offer better connectivity for millions of travellers. This partnership will strengthen our position in becoming the preferred hub to connect China with Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.”

 

Flying Food Group (FFG) partners with Hainan Airlines at Seattle

Flying Food Group SEA has announced collaboration with Hainan Airlines at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport providing inflight catering services to Elevates In-flight Experience for its three times weekly service.

 

Sichuan Airlines reinstates Chengdu to Auckland route

Sichuan Airlines reinstated its Chengdu to Auckland route operating weekly using two class Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The route was suspended in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Auckland airport chief customer officer Scott Tasker, said “We have close to 300,000 Chinese living in New Zealand who want to visit family and the Chinese airlines flying into New Zealand have significant connecting hubs which travellers can use to reach North and Southeast Asia, the United Kingdom and Europe. That provides more competition and choice for travellers.”
