Capitalising on Scarcity: Acumen Aviation Reviews a Pivotal 2025
Dublin, 27 January 2026: Acumen Aviation, a leading Aircraft Asset Management Company, announces the release of its 2025 Operational Review, reflecting a year defined by strong demand, limited supply, and elevated technical complexity across the global aviation sector.
2025: A Supply-Constrained Market Reshapes Aviation
Demand growth coincided with persistent aircraft delivery delays, ongoing OEM supply chain disruption, and widespread engine maintenance challenges, creating one of the most supply-constrained operating environments in recent memory. Lease rates for modern, fuel-efficient aircraft reached record levels. While higher interest rates increased financing costs, strong lease yields and asset values supported lessor profitability. In this environment, operational resilience, technical depth, and effective asset management became decisive competitive advantages.
Leasing and Advisory Services
Acumen’s Leasing and Advisory team remained highly active, benefiting from robust secondary market demand driven by aircraft scarcity and extended lease terms. During the year, Acumen managed ten special-purpose vehicles in Ireland, overseeing a combined portfolio of 24 assets leased globally. The team supported lessors and investors through aircraft sourcing, trading, and remarketing activities, including transactions involving standalone engines, part-out airframes, and freighter aircraft.
Technical Asset Management (TAM): The Operational Frontline
Acumen’s TAM team witnessed an uptick in aircraft redeliveries and was involved in a number of redelivery projects, the majority of which were concentrated in the Asia region. The team supported approximately 350 assets, coordinating maintenance planning, component strategies, and operator transitions to minimise downtime and protect lease revenue.
Valuations and Advisory: Navigating Extreme Volatility
Extreme volatility across lease rates, maintenance exposure, and asset availability challenged traditional appraisal models. Acumen’s Advisory Services team completed over 1,500 asset appraisals during the year, including more than 30 assets for ABS transactions, bringing total valuations completed by Acumen to over 6,450 assets. The proprietary fin-S valuation platform, supporting nearly 50 aircraft and engine types, enabled dynamic, scenario-based assessments to support financing, sale-leaseback activity, and portfolio decision-making.
CAMO Services: Balancing Safety and Commercial Pressure
CAMO providers faced heightened operational and regulatory pressure in 2025 as maintenance demands intensified alongside parts shortages and mandatory engine recalls. Acumen’s CAMO team retained key approvals, including EASA Part CAMO (Approval No. IE.CAMO.117), ISO 9001:2015, and approvals from the Guernsey, Bermuda, and Cayman Islands authorities. During the year, Acumen also added ISO 27001:2022, strengthening its information security framework.
Digital Transformation & Data Management: From Advantage to Operational Necessity
Market conditions in 2025 accelerated digital transformation and data management from a strategic advantage to an operational necessity. Acumen continued to scale their capabilities, supporting clients through integrated digital platforms and robust data governance. The team procured two new accounts in terms of end-to-end Contracts and Technical Asset Management support and the scope of DM service was also extended to include key support as part of service delivery. During the period they managed just shy of 2,260 assets across SPARTA and other internal systems, enabling predictive analytics, compliance oversight, and improved asset marketability in a highly competitive environment.
