Aer Lingus Deploys A321LR on Ireland West Airport Rotation
Aer Lingus operated an Airbus A321LR on its Dublin–London Heathrow–Ireland West Airport rotation on 9 August, marking the type’s second appearance at Ireland West Airport. Airbus A321-253NX(LR) EI-LRF, msn 10264, named “St Gelasius”, operated the four-sector EIN156/915/916/161 rotation. The aircraft flew Dublin–London Heathrow–Ireland West–London Heathrow–Dublin, replacing the route’s scheduled 186-seat A320neo.
EasyJet Connects Belfast International with Aberdeen
EasyJet will launch a new winter service between Belfast International Airport and Aberdeen International Airport from 4 January 2027. The route will operate twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays. Belfast International Airport said the new connection will support additional investment and job creation while improving direct connectivity for leisure travellers, students and businesses.
Ryanair Targets Major Growth in Shannon MRO Capability
Ryanair has submitted a planning application for a major expansion of its engineering operations at Shannon Airport, with plans to make it the airline’s largest aircraft maintenance facility in Ireland. The €50 million investment includes a new four-bay Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul hangar, expanding Ryanair’s existing maintenance and engineering operations at Shannon. Subject to planning approval, construction is expected to begin in early 2027, with the new facility scheduled to become operational in late 2028.

Standard Chartered Finances Nine New Aircraft for United Airlines
Standard Chartered has provided around 390 million US dollars in financing for nine new United Airlines aircraft. The deal covers four Airbus A321neos and five Boeing 737-8s. The financing will support United’s fleet modernisation and fuel-efficiency plans, with Standard Chartered acting as Lead Arranger and Initial Lender.
Air China C919 Completes First International Scheduled Flight
An Air China COMAC C919 has completed its first non-domestic passenger flight, operating from Beijing to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The C919-100(ER), registered B-919Y, departed Beijing Capital International Airport shortly before 3:20 pm on 12 August 2026 and arrived at Ulaanbaatar New International Airport at around 5:00 pm local time.
Boeing Delivers 53 Commercial Aircraft in July
Boeing delivered 53 commercial aircraft in July 2026, taking its total for the first seven months of the year to 367 aircraft. That is 12 percent higher than the 328 aircraft delivered during the same period in 2025. July deliveries included 39 737 MAX aircraft, 10 787 Dreamliners, three 767s and one 777 Freighter. Boeing delivered 48 aircraft in July 2025 and 64 aircraft in June 2026.
Air Canada Sells 25 Percent Aeroplan Stake for C$2.5 Billion
Air Canada is selling a 25 percent stake in its Aeroplan loyalty programme to an investor group led by Blackstone and La Caisse for 2.5 billion Canadian dollars. The deal values Aeroplan at 10 billion Canadian dollars. Air Canada will use part of the proceeds to repay 1.2 billion US dollars of bonds that are due soon.
World Star Aviation Delivers Boeing 737-400SF to Aerosucre
World Star Aviation has delivered Boeing 737-400SF MSN 25111 on lease to Colombian cargo carrier Aerosucre, marking the first aircraft placement between the two companies. The freighter will support Aerosucre’s fleet renewal programme and strengthen its cargo operations across Colombia and Latin America.
EgyptAir M&E Plans In-House Leap-1B Maintenance Capability
EgyptAir Maintenance & Engineering is using the introduction of EgyptAir’s Boeing 737 MAX 8 fleet as the basis for developing in-house CFM International Leap-1B engine maintenance capability. While the immediate priority is supporting the aircraft’s entry into service, the longer-term aim is to prepare for growing Leap-1B MRO demand as more operators introduce next-generation narrowbody aircraft.
AVi8 Airways Targets Cambodian A321F Launch in 2027
Cambodian startup AVi8 Airways plans to lease its first Airbus A321 freighter and complete certification with Cambodia’s State Secretariat of Civil Aviation during the first quarter of 2027. The carrier has begun the certification process and expects approval within six to seven months. If successful, AVi8 would become Cambodia’s only freighter operator, introducing locally based dedicated cargo capacity to the market.

The acquisition strengthens Stellair’s presence in Spain and the Balearic Islands while maintaining operational continuity at Palma de Mallorca Airport.

Global business aviation flight activity increased 5.6 percent year on year in July, according to Argus Analytics. North America remained the main growth driver, with particularly strong demand from fractional operators, while Europe recorded its first annual decline in 14 months. The results indicate continued resilience in business aviation demand, although regional performance is beginning to diverge.
Qatar Airways Cargo Expands TechLift Capabilities
Qatar Airways Cargo has added VRR’s specialised RGX and RZY containers to its TechLift service for transporting semiconductor fabrication machinery and related equipment. The climate-controlled, shock-absorbing containers are certified for carriage on the main deck of the carrier’s Boeing 777 freighters.
