Dublin Aerospace Welcomes Former Spirit Airlines A320neo
Dublin Aerospace has welcomed a former Spirit Airlines Airbus A320neo to its Dublin hangar for base maintenance ahead of its next operator. The aircraft, N961NK, an Airbus A320-271N c/n 11003 owned by SMBC Aviation Capital, routed Phoenix-Bangor-Dublin on 10–11 June. Planespotters reports the aircraft is registered as OE-IED for Condor Airlines.
Dublin Named Launch Base for Ryanair’s 737 MAX-10
Ryanair has announced that Dublin Airport will be the first base to receive its new 228-seat Boeing 737 MAX-10 aircraft, subject to proposed 15 per cent cuts to Dublin Airport fees by the independent IAA Regulator. The aircraft will offer 21 per cent more seats per departure than the 189-seat Boeing 737-800. Ryanair said the MAX-10 deliveries will increase its network average seat gauge from 189 seats in 2019 to 206 seats by 2034, with Dublin expected to see higher average seat gauge and overall capacity.
Swiss Reinstates Geneva-Dublin Route
Swiss International Air Lines has reinstated its seasonal Geneva-Dublin service, with flights resuming on 28 June 2026 following a three-month suspension. The route operates as flights LX410/411 using 145-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The reinstated inaugural service was operated by Airbus A220-300 HB-JCT, msn 55046, marking the return of the carrier’s direct Geneva-Dublin link for the summer season.

Icelandair Boeing 757-256 TF-ISR, c/n 26248, was ferried to Mojave on 11 July 2026 following its return to the lessor. The aircraft was previously registered as EI-DUK.
7T-VLQ Boeing 737-8 Delivered to Algiers
Air Algérie Boeing 737-8 7T-VLQ, c/n 44017, was delivered from Budapest to Algiers on 9 July 2026. The aircraft was previously registered as D-AVOL.

Record IPO Activity Signals Strong Business Jet Outlook
Record IPO activity and the continued growth of high-net-worth wealth are supporting business jet demand, according to Jefferies. IPO proceeds have reached US$125.6 billion so far in 2026, almost three times the US$45.3 billion recorded across all of 2025, while the number of IPOs is already at around 75 percent of last year’s total. Jefferies also noted a 70 percent correlation between IPO activity and business jet deliveries over the past decade, excluding 2020 and 2021.
Wizz Air Recognised for Industry-Leading Sustainability Performance
Wizz Air has been named Most Sustainable Company in the European Low-Cost Airline Industry at the World Finance Sustainability Awards 2026, recognising its carbon emissions intensity of 50.8 grams per revenue passenger kilometre. The airline operates 269 Airbus A320-family aircraft with an average fleet age of 4.5 years, with 75 per cent of the fleet made up of new-generation neo aircraft. Its Airbus A321neo aircraft are configured with 239 seats, supporting high aircraft utilisation and seat density.
Saudia Cargo Adds Four Boeing 777-200 Freighters
Saudia Cargo has announced the addition of four Boeing 777-200 Freighters as part of a plan to double its dedicated cargo fleet. The expansion is intended to strengthen operational capabilities, support growing air cargo demand and extend the carrier’s global network. The move also supports Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transport and Logistics Strategy by strengthening links between the Kingdom and international markets.
SETNA iO Acquires First A320neo for U.S. Teardown Programme
SETNA iO has acquired its first Airbus A320neo for teardown in the United States, using an aircraft previously operated by Spirit Airlines. The aircraft will be dismantled at AerSale’s facility in Goodyear, Arizona. Recovered components will enter SETNA’s global repair and distribution network, with serviceable and repaired parts supplied to airlines, lessors and MRO providers through its subsidiaries and maintenance partners.
South American Nations Move Toward Single Aviation Market
Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Chile are set to sign a memorandum of understanding on 14 July to establish a framework for a single South American aviation market. The Wing Agreement aims to gradually remove restrictions on cross-border airline operations and, over the next 12 months, align regulations, safety standards and certification requirements while expanding traffic rights. The proposal could eventually allow participating airlines to operate domestic services in neighbouring markets and routes between two foreign countries without returning to their home market.
Structural Costs and Limited Capacity Keep German Airfares High
Airfares in Germany are expected to remain high through summer 2026, continuing the upward trend seen in recent years. A market study by the German Aerospace Centre found that fares are also increasing across the low-cost carrier segment, reflecting ongoing structural cost pressures and limited supply.
TDA Acquires Airbus A320-200 for Teardown
TDA has acquired a 2007-built Airbus A320-216, MSN 3232, from Air India Express to expand its A320 family aftermarket inventory. The CFM56-5B-powered aircraft is being dismantled by eCube in Wales, with recovered components distributed to repair and overhaul facilities. Selected inventory will also be positioned across TDA’s warehouses in Europe and North America, while the company plans to acquire additional A320 aircraft in the coming months.
Tecnam Supports Italy’s Regional Air Mobility Initiative with New Airline Plan
Tecnam has outlined plans to launch a new regional airline through its independent spin-off company, Altair, as part of Italy’s Regional Air Mobility initiative. The programme, led by ENAC and ENAC Servizi, aims to connect regional airports through short-haul air services. Altair plans to operate the nine-seat Tecnam P2012 Traveller, subject to regulatory approvals, with the aircraft showcased at the opening of the new RAM terminal at Rome Urbe Airport.

United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby Named 2026 International Executive of the Year
United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby has been named the Executives’ Club’s 2026 International Executive of the Year, with the award to be presented on 10 November 2026. Kirby has served as United’s CEO since 2020, following four years as President, and has overseen the airline’s United Next growth plan and investments in customer experience and global connectivity. The award recognises his leadership and influence across the aviation industry.

NATS Signs 10-Year Strategic Partnership with Belfast International Airport
NATS has signed a new 10-year agreement with Belfast International Airport to continue providing air traffic control and engineering services. The partnership will also cover future air traffic management and engineering projects as the airport develops. Belfast International Airport, owned and operated by VINCI Airports, is currently delivering a £100 million investment programme focused on operational efficiency, facility modernisation and passenger experience.
Risteard Sheridan Appointed Chair of Aircraft Leasing Ireland
Aircraft Leasing Ireland has appointed Risteard Sheridan, Company Secretary & Chief Compliance Officer at AerCap, as its new Chair, succeeding Karl Griffin of GENESIS after his two-year term. Claire Walsh, SVP and Head of Operations at Skyworks, has been appointed Vice-Chair and is set to assume the Chair role in 2028. ALI, established in 2018, represents Ireland’s aircraft leasing industry as part of Financial Services Ireland within Ibec.
Ryanair’s FY26 Results Highlight Strength of Low-Cost Model
Ryanair ended FY26 with stronger profits and higher passenger numbers, reinforcing the resilience of its low-cost model. The airline carried 208.4 million passengers during the year, while pre-exceptional profit after tax rose 40 per cent to €2.26 billion. Ancillary revenue also remained an important part of the business, contributing nearly €5 billion to overall revenue of €15.54 billion.
Shannon Airliner Update Highlights Maintenance, Repainting and Aircraft Movements
The latest Shannon Airliner Update shows continued maintenance, repainting and aircraft transition activity across the airport. Recent movements included ASL Airlines Boeing 737-800 freighter EI-FNW, Finnair Airbus A330 OH-LTN arriving for inspection ahead of repainting for Qantas, and several Boeing 737 MAX aircraft being prepared for Air Algérie. Atlantic Aviation Group and International Aerospace Coating also handled a wide mix of aircraft during the period, including freighters, passenger aircraft and aircraft undergoing re-registration, maintenance or repainting before returning to service.

SMBC, SMBC Aviation Capital and Trinity College Dublin have published a new report examining the barriers to scaling sustainable aviation fuel production and supporting aviation decarbonisation. Catalysing Sustainable Aviation Fuel Deployment draws on a December 2025 roundtable and looks at the technological, financial and regulatory factors shaping wider SAF deployment.
SMFL Helicopters Closes Major Loan Facility with JBIC and Japanese Banks
SMFL Helicopters has closed a loan facility totalling approximately US$302 million, €79 million and £6 million with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation and four Japanese commercial banks. The financing will support SMFL’s overseas expansion through its helicopter leasing business and strengthen its international competitiveness.
Sunweb Adds Ryanair to Airline Partners
Sunweb Group has partnered with Ryanair, allowing customers to book package holidays departing from Brussels South Charleroi Airport, while cooperation with airBaltic supports departures from Liège Airport. The agreement expands Sunweb’s airline network alongside existing partners including Brussels Airlines and Transavia. Sunweb said the Ryanair collaboration has already exceeded initial expectations across its summer and ski holiday portfolio, although no figures were disclosed.
Spain Leads Irish Overseas Spending in June 2026
Spain was the leading overseas destination for Irish consumers in June 2026, with AIB customers spending €51 million there during the month. Across 79 million card transactions analysed by AIB, overall spending was four per cent higher than a year earlier. Leisure-related spending also increased, with theme parks up 14 per cent and sporting goods stores up seven per cent.

Stratos has acquired three leased aircraft, comprising an Airbus A321 leased to Asiana, a Boeing 737-800 leased to Southwest and a Boeing 737-700 leased to Virgin Australia. All three airlines are new clients for Stratos, adding to the aircraft investment specialist’s growing serviced fleet.
EasyJet Agrees in Principle to Castlelake Takeover Bid
EasyJet has agreed in principle to a €6.42 billion takeover proposal from Castlelake after the US investment firm raised its offer to €6.90 per share. The latest bid followed four earlier rejections and includes a partial equity structure designed to meet European Union ownership requirements. Castlelake would hold 49 percent of the bidding vehicle, with the remaining stake held by two EU nationals.

New research from EPIC Insights examines how Aer Lingus presents its fare and ancillary options to customers.
