Dublin Aerospace Welcomes Former Spirit Airlines A320neo
Dublin Aerospace has welcomed a former Spirit Airlines Airbus A320neo to its Dublin hangar for base maintenance ahead of its next operator. The aircraft, N961NK, an Airbus A320-271N c/n 11003 owned by SMBC Aviation Capital, routed Phoenix-Bangor-Dublin on 10–11 June. Planespotters reports the aircraft is registered as OE-IED for Condor Airlines.
Dublin Named Launch Base for Ryanair’s 737 MAX-10
Ryanair has announced that Dublin Airport will be the first base to receive its new 228-seat Boeing 737 MAX-10 aircraft, subject to proposed 15 per cent cuts in Dublin Airport fees by the independent IAA Regulator. The aircraft will offer 21 per cent more seats per departure than the 189-seat Boeing 737-800. Ryanair said the MAX-10 deliveries will increase its network average seat gauge from 189 seats in 2019 to 206 seats by 2034, with Dublin expected to see higher average seat gauge and overall capacity.
Swiss Reinstates Geneva-Dublin Route
Swiss International Air Lines has reinstated its seasonal Geneva-Dublin service, with flights resuming on 28 June 2026 following a three-month suspension. The route operates as flights LX410/411 using 145-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft. The reinstated inaugural service was operated by Airbus A220-300 HB-JCT, msn 55046, marking the return of the carrier’s direct Geneva-Dublin link for the summer season.

Azores Airlines Sets September Deadlines for Privatisation Process
SATA Holding has set key deadlines for the privatisation of Azores Airlines, with qualification documents due by 6 September and non-binding offers by 21 September. The sale covers at least 75 per cent of the airline’s share capital and forms part of a restructuring plan agreed with the European Commission. Bids will be assessed on factors including purchase price, financial support, regulatory considerations, ownership stability and employment commitments, with collective layoffs or job eliminations prohibited for 30 months after the transaction.
Boeing 737 MAX Becomes Company’s Best-Selling Aircraft Family
Boeing’s 737 MAX has overtaken the 737 Next-Generation as the company’s best-selling aircraft family. Following 100 new MAX orders in June, total orders for the type reached 7,206, compared with 7,159 for the 737 NG. Boeing launched the 737 MAX programme in 2011, and the aircraft has since become the company’s fastest-selling model.
Bolivia Plans Embraer Fleet Renewal for State-Owned BoA
The Bolivian government is preparing a fleet renewal programme for state-owned Boliviana de Aviación, with Embraer emerging as the preferred manufacturer. Discussions are underway on the acquisition of new aircraft to improve operational reliability and competitiveness. The government has also reaffirmed that BoA will remain under state ownership, while the wider aviation strategy includes expanding international connectivity through a more open aviation market.
Cebu Pacific Wet Leases Airbus A320neo to Vietnam Airlines
Cebu Pacific has entered into a wet lease agreement with Vietnam Airlines for one Pratt & Whitney-powered Airbus A320neo during the peak summer travel season. From 15 July to 7 September 2026, the aircraft will be based in Ho Chi Minh City and operated by Cebu Pacific flight and cabin crews. It will serve domestic routes to Cam Ranh, Phu Quoc, Vinh and Da Nang.
Embraer E-Jets Family Receives DGCA Type Certification in India
Embraer has secured Type Certification from India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation for the E190, E195 and E195-E2. The E175 was already certified in India and is currently operated by Star Air. The certification expands Embraer’s opportunities in the Indian market and supports wider deployment of its E-Jets family across regional aviation.
Emirates Debuts Next-Generation Lounge Concept Globally
Emirates has introduced a new signature lounge concept that will be rolled out across key cities during 2026. The design has already been launched in Munich and Frankfurt, with Manchester planned for July, Mauritius in August and Istanbul in October. Emirates will invest more than AED 50 million in each next-generation lounge, with the concept featuring contemporary interiors, integrated technology, locally inspired dining and wellness-focused amenities.
Etihad Expands European Network with New Routes in 2026
Etihad Airways plans around eight million two-way seats between Abu Dhabi and Europe in 2026. Cirium data shows capacity is up slightly on the previous record set in 2025, although growth expectations were stronger before the war in Iran began. In January 2026, Etihad’s planned European capacity was 27 percent higher year-on-year.
Freighter Capacity Index Reaches Four-Month High
The Cargo Facts Freighter Capacity Index rose to its highest level in four months, supported by growth in widebody capacity. The index increased 1.9 per cent year-on-year to 139.0 in May, with a month-on-month rise of 0.22 per cent. Freighter capacity during the month reached the second-highest level recorded by Cargo Facts.
FTAI Aviation and AEI Partner on Lower-Cost Boeing 737-800 Freighter Solution
FTAI Aviation and Aeronautical Engineers, Inc. have entered into a strategic collaboration to expand Boeing 737-800 freighter availability. The partnership combines AEI’s passenger-to-freighter conversion programmes with FTAI’s CFM56 engine support and maintenance capabilities. The companies aim to offer airlines a more cost-effective freighter solution and improve operating economics for narrowbody cargo aircraft.
Gulfstream SAF Testing Shows Contrail Emission Cuts
Gulfstream Aerospace has completed a high-altitude flight-test campaign examining the potential for 100 percent sustainable aviation fuel to reduce contrail-forming particle emissions. The tests were conducted at altitudes up to 50,000 feet, with Gulfstream stating it is the first business aviation company to complete such a campaign.
Hollywood Burbank Jet Centre Joins Paragon Network
Hollywood Burbank Jet Center has joined the Paragon Network, expanding Paragon Aviation Group’s FBO coverage at Hollywood Burbank Airport. The addition strengthens Paragon’s presence in Southern California, a region recognised for high-volume business aviation activity, entertainment industry travel, corporate flight operations and access to the greater Los Angeles area.

Dáil Update on Dublin Airport Flight Path Review
The Minister for Transport has confirmed that an independent assessment of Dublin Airport flight paths will be undertaken, most likely after a final decision on the North Runway Relevant Action. The timing is intended to ensure the review uses the most current operational data and latest noise modelling methodologies. Under EU legislation, airport operators are responsible for designing and maintaining Instrument Flight Procedures, while the Irish Aviation Authority oversees compliance with aviation safety standards.

DAA Warns Passenger Charge Cuts Could Affect €5.6 Billion Dublin Airport Investment Plan
DAA has warned that proposed lower passenger charges could have significant implications for its planned €5.6 billion capital investment programme at Dublin Airport between 2027 and 2031. The Irish Aviation Authority’s draft determination proposes a maximum charge of €8.85 per passenger for 2027, compared with the €11.14 base price cap sought by DAA.
DAE and Neuberger Launch New Aircraft Leasing Platform
Dubai Aerospace Enterprise and Neuberger Specialty Finance have launched Mustang Aerospace, a new aircraft leasing co-investment platform targeting approximately US$6 billion in aircraft investments over the medium term. The platform will acquire and lease a diversified portfolio of commercial aircraft to airlines worldwide. DAE will manage the assets through its leasing and Aircraft Investor Services platform, which currently oversees around 700 aircraft, including more than 100 managed for third-party investors.
Irish Visits to Australia Fall 18 Per cent in May
The number of Irish travellers visiting Australia fell in May 2026, with 3,850 short-term trips recorded, down 18.1 percent compared with May 2025. Even so, traveller numbers remained 15.6 percent above pre-pandemic levels. Over the past 12 months, 95,640 Irish travellers visited Australia, up 9.1 percent year-on-year.
IAA Proposes Lower Dublin Airport Price Cap for 2027–2031
The Irish Aviation Authority has published its draft decision on Dublin Airport charges for the 2027 to 2031 period. For 2027, it is proposing a maximum charge of €8.85 per passenger, down 15 percent from €10.39 in 2026. The proposed figure would bring the charge back closer to the levels seen between 2023 and 2025, when it ranged from €8.46 to €9.54 per passenger.
