ASL Aviation Holdings Boosts ASL Airlines, Australia Fleet
Dublin-based ASL Aviation Holdings will add four Boeing 737-800BCF aircraft to the ASL Airlines Australia fleet, expanding its operational capability across Australia and New Zealand. Some aircraft will transfer from ASL’s existing European fleet to the Australian AOC, with the first expected to arrive in Australia soon. The additional freighters will strengthen ASL’s existing network and provide further capacity for regional growth.
EirTrade Aviation Announces Acquisition of A330 Airframe
EirTrade Aviation has acquired an Airbus A330 airframe previously operated by Air Transat. The aircraft will be inducted for immediate disassembly at the company’s facility at Ireland West Airport Knock. EirTrade recently also secured new authorisations from Guernsey, the Cayman Islands and Bermuda for operations, transitions, parking and storage at the Knock facility.
Air Transat Operates One-Time Toronto–Dublin A321ceo Service
Air Transat operated a one-time Airbus A321ceo on its Toronto–Dublin service on 14 August in place of the scheduled Airbus A321LR. Airbus A321-211 C-GEZJ, MSN 4148, operated TSC230/231, arriving in Dublin at 1:46 PM and departing at 4:06 PM. The eastbound sector routed via Goose Bay, while the westbound sector operated via Keflavik.
United Deploys Boeing 777-300ER on Newark–Dublin to Meet Demand
United Airlines has deployed its four-class, 350-seat Boeing 777-300ER on one of its two daily Newark–Dublin services, replacing the 276-seat Boeing 777-200ER. The substitution adds 74 seats per sector, representing a 27 per cent capacity increase. Boeing 777-300ERs N2639U, MSN 62650, and N2332U, MSN 62643, operated the service on 25 July and 15 August, respectively.

Air New Zealand Sees Engine Disruption Easing After Largest Annual Loss in Three Years
Air New Zealand said disruption from engine shortages is easing as more aircraft return to service, after high fuel costs and maintenance constraints contributed to its largest annual loss in three years. The airline has faced engine maintenance issues since 2023, when Pratt & Whitney recalled more than 1,000 engines used on Airbus aircraft for inspections, leading to intermittent aircraft groundings. The annual result was nevertheless narrower than expected.

Engine Upgrades Set to Roll Across Commercial Fleets
Commercial engine manufacturers are moving into a major period of fleet upgrades following significant investment to address supply-chain, production and durability challenges. Carl Icahn has given up his board representation at JetBlue after reducing his stake in the airline to 3.32 percent as of 20 August 2026. JetBlue said the lower ownership level meant both of his board representatives were no longer eligible to remain. The board will now have 11 members, with all but one classified as independent. JetBlue shares are also around one-fifth lower than when Icahn first disclosed his investment.

Shannon Aviation Museum has officially opened the new Eddie Ryan Memorial Wing, housing the Irish Air Corps Museum Collection following the closure of the museum at Casement Aerodrome in 2024. The event was attended by representatives from government, the Defence Forces, the Irish Air Corps, Clare County Council and the Irish Aviation Authority.
Aer Lingus Brings TCU and UNC Teams to Dublin for College Football Classic
Aer Lingus has transported the TCU Horned Frogs and UNC Tar Heels to Dublin ahead of the 2026 Aer Lingus College Football Classic at Aviva Stadium on 29 August. Dedicated charter flights operated from Dallas Fort Worth and Raleigh-Durham, carrying players, coaches, support staff and equipment.
