Air Nostrum Acquires Two Former CityJet CRJ1000s
Air Nostrum has added two former CityJet Mitsubishi CRJ1000 aircraft to its fleet as the Spanish regional carrier continues to evaluate its future fleet strategy. The aircraft are EI-HIA, MSN 19006, now registered EC-OTF, and EI-HID, MSN 19024, now registered EC-OTG. Both aircraft previously operated for Scandinavian Airlines under CityJet’s wet-lease agreement.
Emerald Airlines UK Transfers ATR72-600 to Emerald Airlines Ireland
Belfast City-based Emerald Airlines UK has transferred ATR72-212A(600) G-CMJN, msn 1339, named “St Caillín”, to sister company Emerald Airlines Ireland as EI-GZY. According to Flightradar24, the aircraft operated its last commercial service on 7 June as EIN3648/9 on the Birmingham sector. The following day, it positioned to Dublin as EAG71P.
Hainan Boosts Dublin-Beijing to Daily Service
Hainan Airlines will operate its Dublin-Beijing Capital International Airport service daily from 22 June. Dublin Airport announced the update on its company LinkedIn page, noting that the year-round route will offer daily flights this summer and strengthen long-haul connectivity between Ireland and China. The carrier operates 292-seat, two-class Airbus A330-300 and Boeing 787-9 aircraft on the route.

Emirates Recycles and Reuses 88,000 Kilograms of Plastic From Inflight Dining
Emirates has highlighted the impact of its closed-loop recycling programme, first launched in June 2023, to mark World Environment Day. Over the past year, the airline has repurposed more than 88,000 kilograms of plastic from Economy Class inflight meal service items. The material has been transformed into new products for use onboard.
Etihad and DCT Abu Dhabi Launch Complimentary Medical Travel Insurance
Etihad Airways and the Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi have launched complimentary medical travel insurance for international visitors arriving in Abu Dhabi on Etihad-operated flights. The cover is provided with The National Insurance Company – Daman and is designed to support travel demand to Abu Dhabi. The initiative extends the passenger offering beyond the flight by helping visitors arrive well-travelled and well-protected.
IATA and ICAO Deepen Cooperation on Sustainable Aviation Fuels
IATA and ICAO have announced enhanced cooperation to support the development and deployment of Sustainable Aviation Fuels. Announced at ICAO Aviation Climate Week, the collaboration will focus on improving transparency and integrity in tracking progress on cleaner aviation energies. The initiative supports wider industry and state ambitions around net-zero carbon emissions.
Iberia Celebrates 80 Years Connecting Madrid and London
Iberia is celebrating the 80th anniversary of its Madrid-London route, one of the most important routes in its network by capacity and frequency. The service was launched in 1946 with two weekly DC-3 flights from Croydon Airport, making London Iberia’s second international destination after Lisbon. Today, Iberia, Iberia Express and British Airways operate more than 20 daily flights between Madrid and London.
Jet2 Praises Greece for Suspending EES Checks
Jet2 has praised the Greek authorities for suspending biometric checks for UK holidaymakers travelling to Greece under the EU’s new Entry/Exit System. The airline said Greece had worked with the industry and put customers first ahead of the busy summer season. Jet2 also urged other authorities across its destination network to consider suspending EES checks until processes and systems are ready.
JetZero Breaks Ground on First Aircraft Factory in North Carolina
JetZero has broken ground on its first manufacturing and final assembly campus in Greensboro, North Carolina. The 8 million square foot facility will be built on more than 600 acres and will support production of JetZero’s next-generation aircraft. The project is expected to create 14,500 jobs over the next 10 years and will use digital design tools from Siemens and Deloitte to support a smart factory model.
KLM Names First Airbus A350 The Night Watch
KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has unveiled a new naming theme for its incoming Airbus A350 fleet, with the first aircraft to be named The Night Watch after Rembrandt’s famous painting. The airline expects to receive its first A350 at the end of August 2026. The aircraft is scheduled to enter commercial service in September, with Toronto selected as its inaugural destination.
K-Mile Introduces Boeing 767F Service to Abu Dhabi
K-Mile Asia, the Thailand-based subsidiary of ASL Aviation Holdings, has launched Boeing 767 freighter service to the Middle East with a new route to Abu Dhabi. The carrier’s first flights to Abu Dhabi began on 3 May using a 2002-vintage Boeing 767-300BCF. The service includes operations from Kuala Lumpur via Shenzhen and Chiang Mai.

Lars Wingefors AB has consolidated its aviation-related operations into the newly formed W. Aviation AB. The group offers end-to-end aviation solutions through an integrated platform covering operational services, technical services and leasing. Irish Air Corps operations were discussed in Dáil Éireann on 14 May 2026 following a question from Deputy Ken O’Flynn to the Minister for Defence. The Minister said military and State aircraft operating in support of An Garda Síochána are exempt from civil aviation obligations governed by the Irish Aviation Authority and international bodies such as EASA. The operation, certification and oversight of Garda Air Support Unit aircraft are governed by military frameworks and a cross-departmental Service Level Agreement.

Entries are now open for the Aviation Industry Awards 2026, with the submission deadline set for 21 August. Launched in 2014, the awards recognise excellence, best practice and innovation across Ireland’s aviation sector, including airlines, airports, maintenance, safety, leasing and workforce development. Finalists will be announced on 2 October, with the awards gala taking place on 3 December 2026 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Dublin Airport.

MetroLink procurement was discussed in Dáil Éireann on 9 June 2026 following a question from Deputy Albert Dolan to the Minister for Transport. The Minister said the National Transport Authority has statutory responsibility for the planning and development of public transport infrastructure in the Greater Dublin Area, including MetroLink. The response confirmed the Minister’s responsibility for policy and overall funding in relation to public transport.
Ryanair to Launch Warsaw Modlin-Zagreb Route
Ryanair will introduce a new route between Warsaw Modlin and Zagreb during the upcoming winter season. The low-cost carrier will launch two weekly flights on 26 October. The service will face no direct competition, although LOT Polish Airlines operates between Warsaw Chopin Airport and Zagreb.
