China Eastern Launches Direct Dublin–Shanghai Service
China Eastern Airlines has commenced a new three-times-weekly non-stop service between Dublin and Shanghai, giving Ireland its first direct connection to China’s largest city. The route is operated by Airbus A350-900 aircraft, with the inaugural inbound flight CES/MU231 flown by B-32FQ, an Airbus A350-941, msn 624. The new service strengthens direct connectivity between Ireland and one of Asia’s leading economic and cultural centres.
TUI Adds Cork–Palma Service for Summer 2027
TUI will operate a new weekly service from Cork Airport to Palma Airport every Tuesday from 18 May to 31 August 2027. The route will use 189-seat Boeing 737-800 and Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft and will support TUI’s Marella Cruises offering for Irish holidaymakers. The service will provide travellers from the South of Ireland with access to Mediterranean cruise itineraries departing from Palma.
Dublin Aerospace Receives Former Spirit Airlines Airbus A320neo
Dublin Aerospace has welcomed a former Spirit Airlines Airbus A320neo to its Dublin hangar for base maintenance. The work will prepare the aircraft for its next operator, supporting its transition into service with another airline.

C-FHQY De Havilland Canada DHC-8-402 Completes Delivery Flight
De Havilland Canada DHC-8-402 C-FHQY, c/n 4599, was delivered in full SATA colours on 1 August 2026. The aircraft routed North Bay–Goose Bay–Reykjavik–Shannon–Santiago de Compostela–Ponta Delgada and is due to become CS-TCG.
N17105 Boeing 757-224 Completes Shannon Repair
United Airlines Boeing 757-224 N17105, c/n 27295, developed a snag at Shannon after operating UAL288 from Chicago. Repairs were completed before the aircraft departed for Chicago on 21 July 2026.

Airbus Records 67 Aircraft Deliveries and 204 Gross Orders During July
Airbus delivered 67 aircraft and recorded 204 gross orders during July 2026. The manufacturer now needs to deliver an average of around 90 aircraft per month for the remainder of the year to meet its full-year target of approximately 870 deliveries. Airbus said at its latest earnings results that it was increasingly confident of achieving the target and also adopted a more conciliatory tone towards Pratt & Whitney amid their ongoing dispute over engine supplies.
Airbus and Boeing Target Faster Composite-Airframe Manufacturing Techniques
Airbus and Boeing are exploring ways to manufacture larger composite aerostructures without relying on autoclaves. The commercial aerospace sector could still be around a decade away from achieving high-rate production of major composite structures. Existing autoclave-based infrastructure is time-intensive and expensive to operate, limiting current aircraft production rates and creating challenges for future airliner manufacturing.
Explosives-Laden Drone Incident Raises Airport and Air-Cargo Security Concerns
The discovery of a drone carrying explosives at Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany has raised new concerns over risks to aircraft operators and air-cargo operations. German authorities are investigating how the small quadcopter reached an area close to Ukrainian cargo aircraft, while a DHL freighter was forced to divert. Security analysts cited in the report said the incident bore similarities to earlier destabilisation incidents reported in Poland, Lithuania and Denmark.
Solairus Agrees to Acquire Clay Lacy Aviation’s Aircraft Management and Charter Businesses
Solairus Aviation has agreed to acquire Clay Lacy Aviation’s aircraft management and charter divisions. The transaction, announced on 7 August and expected to close next month, would take Solairus’ managed fleet beyond 500 aircraft. According to Solairus, the acquisition would make it the world’s largest business aircraft management provider.
Teledyne Launches GroundLink Edge Computing Platform Following FAA Certification
Teledyne Controls has launched its GroundLink Edge Computing Platform and AppLink cloud service following FAA Supplemental Type Certificate approval for the Boeing 737 series. The platform allows airlines to remotely deploy, update and scale onboard software applications across their fleets without aircraft downtime, hardware modifications or aircraft-level certification for each new application. Operators manage the system through Teledyne’s AppLink cloud service.
Catalina Aircraft Plans New Engineering and Technology Centre in Florida
Catalina Aircraft Company plans to establish a new Engineering and Technology Center in Vero Beach, Florida, to support development of its Catalina SPAR amphibious aircraft. The multi-tenant facility will bring Catalina’s design team together with aerospace and hardtech start-ups. Shared resources will include digital engineering capabilities, a scale wind tunnel, wave tank, 3-D printing facilities and materials laboratories.

Honda Aircraft Company has marked 20 years since its establishment in 2006 as a global manufacturing, development and sales headquarters following the successful first flight of the HondaJet. More than 275 aircraft have since been delivered worldwide. The company currently produces the HondaJet Elite II at its Greensboro, North Carolina headquarters and continues development of the larger HondaJet Echelon, designed to become the world’s first single-pilot certified light jet with US transcontinental range.
Air Premia Plans to Resume Seoul–Ho Chi Minh City Service in November
Air Premia plans to resume round-trip services between Incheon and Ho Chi Minh City from 5 November 2026, around three years and two months after suspending the route in September 2023. Flights are planned five times per week, excluding Tuesdays and Fridays. Schedules remain subject to government approval, with passengers advised to confirm flight details before departure.

Proceeds are intended for general corporate purposes, including aircraft acquisitions. The programme provides a flexible and cost-effective source of short-term capital while diversifying Avolon’s funding sources and broadening its investor base.
IAA Sets Digital Transformation, Sustainability and Industry Expansion Priorities
The Irish Aviation Authority has published its Statement of Strategy 2026–2028 following a public consultation process. The strategy is structured around six pillars: smarter regulation, digital transformation, consumer protection, elevated sustainability, innovation support and general aviation expansion. Digital initiatives will increase online processes to reduce turnaround times for licensing and certifications, while a dedicated environmental function will support Sustainable Aviation Fuels. The strategy also aligns Irish airspace management with European Union ReFuelEU climate targets.
Ryanair Launches Largest-Ever Morocco Winter Programme
Ryanair has launched its largest-ever Morocco winter programme, offering 5.3 million seats across 156 routes for Winter 2026, including 17 new services. New routes include Rabat–Stockholm, Marrakesh–Wroclaw and Agadir–Milan, while a new Rabat base will add two aircraft as part of a total US$1.6 billion investment. Operations will cover 13 Moroccan airports, adding 580,000 seats, up 12 percent, and supporting more than 8,500 local jobs, including 480 pilot and cabin crew positions.
Azorra Acquires Airbus A330-200 MSN 1161 from TrueNoord
Azorra has acquired Airbus A330-200 MSN 1161 from TrueNoord, adding another widebody aircraft to its portfolio. The aircraft is currently leased to Maldivian Airlines, introducing a new airline customer and operating jurisdiction to Azorra’s global portfolio. The transaction follows the company’s expansion into widebody aircraft through acquisitions of Airbus A330s and Boeing 777-300ERs in 2023. Over the past three years, Azorra has managed the segment through lease extensions and aircraft transitions to new operators.
Abelo Acquires Six Turboprops Managed by Aergo Capital
Turboprop lessor Abelo has acquired four ATR 72-600s and two DHC8-400s managed by Aergo Capital. The six aircraft are leased to Emerald Airlines, Binter Canarias, National Jet Express, Citilink and Philippine Airlines, adding five new operators to Abelo’s portfolio and further diversifying its customer base. Abelo chief executive Stephen Gorman described the transaction as a milestone in the company’s growth strategy and a strategic expansion around key turboprop assets.

EirTrade Aviation’s facility at Knock, Ireland West Airport has received authorisations from the Bailiwick of Guernsey, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Cayman Islands and the Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority.
