Derek Kerr to leave American Airlines

American Airlines announced today that Derek Kerr, American’s Vice Chair, President of American Eagle and Strategic Advisor, will retire from the airline effective from 30 September. American Airlines CEO Robert Isom said “Derek Kerr is one of the finest and most accomplished executives in the history of the airline business. I’m proud to call him a friend, and American is very well-positioned for the future because of his leadership. We wish him well as he begins his retirement.”

 

Final 777-300 of Air New Zealand emerges from storage

After spending more than 855 days in storage in the Mojave Desert throughout the pandemic, the final Air New Zealand 777 landed in Auckland on May 10. Air New Zealand Chief Operations Officer Alex Marren said “An incredible amount of work has gone into bringing these aircraft back. The reanimation of OKM alone has taken more than seven weeks and involved more than 1500 manhours of work. Having all of our 777-300s back will help build more resilience and more seats into our international operation, meaning we can fly more customers to where they need to go - whether that’s San Francisco, Honolulu, Houston or Tahiti!.”

 

 

Luxair confirms growth of its Boeing 737-8 fleet

The Board of Directors of Luxair has approved the purchase of two more Boeing 737-8 aircraft. The addition of these aircraft to the two Boeing 737-8 orders Luxair in March 2023 will raise the airline's total number of firm Boeing 737-8 orders to four. In addition Luxair has achieved an immediate fleet increase based on two Boeing 737-8 aircraft under a leasing arrangement, which will enter service in the summer of 2023 and be operated until 2027.

 

US DOT has authorized Global Crossing Airlines to add 16 aircraft.

The US Department of Transportation has given Global Crossing Airlines permission to raise the authorized number of aircraft from 11 to 16. CEO and Chairman of Global Crossing Airlines Ed Wegel stated, "Subject to FAA clearances, this increased permission will enable us to continue the execution of our 2023 business plan to add up to two additional A320 passenger aircraft and two A321 freighters later this year. The fleet now consists of 12 aircraft, plus one A319 passenger plane and one A321 freighter that will be added within the next 30 days.
